Family of Tiziana Cantone, the Italian woman who committed suicide after her sex-tape went viral online are demanding justice from the Italian authorities over their daughter's death. They urged the Italian authorities "to act so that her death was not in vain."
Tiziana, 31, hanged herself on Tuesday at her aunt's home in Mugnano, near Naples, in the south of the country, according to media reports.
About four people are under investigation by criminal prosecutors over alleged defamation of the woman, Italian state media.
Cantone was said to have sent the video to friends, who published it online without her knowledge, and the sex tape attracted over a million views which subjected her to an online abuse.
Also, the phrase "You're filming? Bravo," which she says to her lover in the clip, went viral online and was printed on T-shirts, smartphone cases and other paraphernalia.
She reportedly made an attempt to escape the growing attention, as she left her job and moved to Tuscany, where she also tried to change her name, Reports stated.
Cantone's mother described her daughter was a " very good girl" during the mourning session.
CNN reports that Cantone won a "right to be forgotten" ruling after a long court battle, which ordered the video's removal from websites and search engines, including Facebook. She paid $22,500 in legal costs.
In 2013, the European Union ruled that people should be given the "right to be forgotten" online, with Internet search engines ordered to remove information deemed "inaccurate, inadequate, irrelevant of excessive" for the purposes of data processing or be hit with a fine.
