Scores of Prisoners Killed, Bodies Evacuated after Jailbreak Attempt in Ebonyi

Scores of inmates in Abakaliki prison, Ebonyi state, were yesterday feared dead and many sustained bullet injuries following a foiled jail break.  Unconfirmed sources said that more than 14 persons were killed including one prison official and those injured were taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, FETHA, for medical attention. Vanguard learned that  trouble started when prisoners on  Thursday morning revolted against the poor treatment, especially inadequate feeding that has been persistent in the prison for a long time. 

Shocking! Man Arrested For Poisening Neighbor's Pot of Soup

A man identified as Gordon Daniel was yesterday arrested by the Ajegunle police following a complaint that he poisoned one of his neighbors Saidat Shakiru's pot of soup over a disagreement regarding unpaid electricity bill. Gordon Daniel Saidat, said only she and Daniel were the only ones in their compound when she found out that her pot of soup had been contaminated with a popular insecticide called 'sniper'.

THE Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta, MEND, yesterday, alleged the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, agreed in secret to renounce ‘Biafra’ in exchange for freedom, only to act hypocritically in public after sealing discussion with them on the matter.
