Soldier Shoots Policeman in Borno over Relief Materials



Tension broke in Borno state government house when a solider pulled the trigger and shot a policeman. The policeman was reportedly shot on the foot at the venue where relief materials were being distributed to internally displaced persons. The exercise was taking place around the office of the deputy governor.

According to a statement released by police and military authorities, “The policeman is responding to treatment and has been visited by the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General LEO Irabor, and the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, Aminchi Baraya, both of whom went together to sympathise with the policeman and also appealed to the public to remain calm, while assuring that the situation is under control.
